What sets this book apart is that the characters are so compelling and real. ![]() This is the premise of Lisa Jewell's psychological thriller "Then She was Gone." The book has been compared to "The Lovely Bones," but to my mind, it reminds me of another thrilling read: "The Girl on the Train." Like that book, Jewell uses multiple narrators to tell the story. Her family is devastated, of course, and her mother, Laurel just cannot come to terms with her daughter's disappearance.
